Weak Lefschetz Property and stellar subdivisions of simplicial complexes

Speaker: Prof. Stavros A. Papadakis (Ioannina)
Host: Knop
Room: 04.363

An interesting open problem is P. McMullen's g-conjecture for the possible sequences of numbers of faces of each dimension for a simplicial complex triangulating a sphere. It is known that the g-conjecture holds if the Stanley-Reisner ring of the complex has the Weak Lefschetz Property.

The talk, which is based  on joint work with Janko Boehm (Kaiserslautern), will be about the question of whether for such complexes the Weak Lefschetz Property of the Stanley-Reisner ring is equivalent to the same property of any stellar subdivision of the complex.
